Request for Domestic Producers
Request for Domestic Producers

Domestic suppliers of specific items are being sought by the Department of Commerce and urged to respond immediately if their business meets certain criteria. The National Council of Textile Organization (NCTO) reached out to the SEAMS association to help identify potential suppliers and circulate the request.
The specifics of the official request:
Petition No. 1902513 – Woven, warp pile fabric, cut, containing more than 85 percent but less than 90 percent by weight of cotton and containing more than 10 percent but less than 15 percent by weight of polyester velvet, non railroaded fabric with no repeat, measuring 140 cm or greater in width (provided for in subheading 5801.37.50)
Petition No. 1902516 - Woven fabric, wholly of linen, non railroaded fabric with no repeat, measuring 140 cm or greater in width (provided for in subheading 5309.19.00)
Specifically, Commerce is attempting to determine whether there is domestic production of the product so that U.S. companies are not harmed by the temporary tariff cuts. Commerce must answer two key questions:
- Is there domestic production of a like or competing product or imminent production of a like or competing product?
- If domestic production has been found, do any domestic producers object to the MTB?
NCTO states that if your organization meets the criteria, please send comments to CommerceMTBs@trade.gov and include Augie Tantillo (rtantillo@ncto.org) and Sara Beatty (sbeatty@ncto.org) on the email.
