What are consumers looking for in pickleball apparel?
Pickleball is fun and social — and the apparel reflects that. Brands are making pickleball-specific tops, shorts and skirts with fun prints and colors, relaxed fits, and moisture-wicking and sun-protective fabric. The team at apparel brand Ply-PKL notes that tennis and pickleball have distinct sports cultures which “warrant unique clothing for each.” A key pickleball detail is to have larger ball pockets than tennis clothes offer. Krimson Klover is designing its pickleball apparel to be “functional and comfortable (quick dry, lightweight, UPF sun protection, pickleball-sized ball pockets) in flattering fits to meet the needs of socializing in style,” says Kate Saunders, president, Krimson Klover. And Pickleball Bella is seeing “a huge response” to its, ‘Groovy’ print which has “major hippy vibes from the 1960s,” says Nancy Tedeschi, founder, Pickleball Bella.
