In The News: OrthoLite, Dick’s SG, FootJoy, New Balance, Alma Mater

OrthoLite has unveiled a new thermal insole technology called OrthoLite O-Therm, which the brand describes as setting “a new standard in cold-weather footwear protection.” O-Therm is the first and only aerogel-infused, open-cell PU foam. This new technology creates a thermal barrier that blocks the cold and maintains footwear temperature regulation. For the consumer, this means feet will stay warmer and more comfortable for longer in cold weather conditions.


Dick’s Sporting Goods is opening three new store and a warehouse sale location this month. The new doors are in Lewisville, TX; Rockford, IL and Las Vegas with the warehouse format slated for a March 31 debut in the retailer’s hometown of Pittsburgh.


FootJoy golfwear sales declined 6.0 percent, or $26.6 million, in 2020 to $415.3 million. The drop was attributed to impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic on sales volumes in footwear and apparel in all global regions, except Korea, according to parent Acushnet Co.


New Balance has signed Canadian tennis pro Eugenie ‘Genie’ Bouchard to a multi-year sponsorship deal.


LA-based footwear company Alma Mater collaborated with former MLB star Alex Rodriguez and Dominican beer brand Presidente on a sneaker in Presidente’s signature green colorway in honor of Dominican Independence Day. Available for pre-order through March 14 for $150 on the Alma Mater website, a portion of the sales will go to Baseball without Borders, a non-profit organization that fosters international relations between American and Dominican youth baseball players.
