In The News: Altra, Hush Puppies, Title Nine, K-Swiss

Fast and light is the name of the game for trail footwear this season. The new Superior 5 from Altra, $120, is a light and fast trail runner with a MaxTrac outsole and a multi-directional lug pattern for traction on any terrain. The updated removable StoneGuard uses less material and is lighter weight for the ultimate underfoot rock protection. And the shoe’s “burrito” style wrap-around tongue offers a locked-in feel.


Retailer Title Nine announced its fourth-annual Pitchfest Outdoor Edition, a campaign to find entrepreneurial women who want to pitch their brand, tell their story, and show their innovative products, in the hopes of winning a spot to have their products sold at Title Nine. Women entrepreneurs in the outdoors and active lifestyle gear, apparel and accessories spaces, who have not worked with Title Nine previously, are encouraged to apply. Hush Puppies, the Wolverine Worldwide-owned brand, will begin adding printed lattice structures from Somerville, MA-based Voxel8 as inserts in midsoles to provide enhanced shock absorption and comfort. The technology will be available in Hush Puppies starting in March 2022.


K-Swiss has appointed Dave Grange as international K-Swiss brand president and Americas general manager. He replaces the departing Barney Waters, who had been the brand’s president since 2016. Grange was most recently VP of sales at K-Swiss.
