Xelero / Genesis II

For Spring 2023, Xelero is introducing the Genesis II in men’s and women’s versions. The brand’s technology aims to make running and walking easier — it offers midsole shock absorption, a control plate that enhances stability and reduces pressure under the foot, and a propulsion element that provides stability, control and promotes forward motion. The shoe’s seamless fly knit upper fits like a glove. And it is available in three widths. MSRP $194.99.

Asics / Superblast

The newest hero of the brand’s Blast series, Asics’ Superblast is built to offer a lightweight and responsive ride ideal for long runs, tempo runs, and everything in between. The upper construction has an asymmetric woven design. The midsole features a combination of FF Blast Plus and FF Blast Turbo cushioning for a light and bouncy feel with soft landings and a more energized rebound at toe-off. MSRP $220.

Altra / VIA Olympus

A max-cushion road shoe designed to provide optimal cushion and efficiency for a comfortable run no matter the distance, the VIA Olympus has a rocker shape geometry that encourages a more efficient toe-off, plus it boasts the brand’s FootShape Fit, Balanced Cushioning and EGO MAX midsole for a plushy road ride that helps put runners in a more forward leaning stance. MSRP $170.

Brooks / Hyperion Max

Featuring Brooks’ lightweight nitro-infused DNA FLASH cushioned midsole for energy return/adaptability, the Hyperion Max is a neutral/speed shoe for long, fast workouts. It has a Green Rubber outsole and a 3D Fit Print stretch woven upper. Available in January. MSRP $170.

Craft / Pro Endurance Trail

New for 2023, the Endurance Trail aims to deliver responsiveness and energy return to serious trail runners. It has a full Px Foam midsole for explosive toe offs and soft landings. Its one-piece mesh upper works in unison with the foot to provide comfort and support with every nimble step. MSRP $174.99.

HOKA / Challenger ATR 7

It has a full-length carbon fiber plate sandwiched in a soft midsole foam that compresses and springs back for added lift and energy return. MSRP $250.

Vimazi / Z50

This new brand’s unique approach — making “pace-tuned” shoes — means each of its six styles is engineered to perform best within a certain pace zone. The Z20, for example, is designed and tuned for elite marathoners (4:30-5:30 minutes per mile), while the Z50 (pictured) is tuned for runners whose pace is 7:15-8:45 minutes per mile.
