Fourth quarter footwear sales at the parent of Hibbett Sports and City Gear rose in the “low 20 percent” range with women’s outpacing men’s and kids. Overall, there were increases in lifestyle, basketball, performance, sandals and boots, management said, with lifestyle and basketball described as the “standout” segments. Casual footwear sales were also higher with demand strong on limited supply.

“Lastly, we continue to see strong results in technical running as health and wellness remain a key marketplace trend,” Jared Briskin, Hibbett’s chief merchant, told analysts last week.

In the most recent fiscal year, HIBB sales rose 19.9 percent to $1.42 billion with full-year comp sales coming in 22 percent higher. Brick-and-mortar comps increased 13.3 percent as annual ecommerce comp sales jumped 89.3 percent to represents 16.7 percent of the retailer’s revenues versus 10.4 percent in the prior fiscal year.
