Whether it’s for working up a sweat on the trail or relaxing out on the town, there’s a good chance your footwear choice has some outdoor influence. Outdoor style, technical comfort and plenty of performance details are all crossover traits of choice in these standout new offerings for the outdoor-minded consumer. Overarching trends in this outdoor mix include continued growth in women’s-specific performance styles, sustainable offerings across the board in lifestyle and performance, hybrid styles for all-day wear, and even some athletic influence with sneaker styles hitting the trail.

UYN Urban Trail Circular

Italian brand Unleash Your Nature (UYN) is launching products in the U.S. this fall, including the Urban Trail Circular, $199, a technical shoe for the city or the trail. The ventilated 3D knit upper is protected in sensitive areas by a Protective Shield made with recycled material for comfort and durability on hikes. And the Urban Trail sole offers extra traction on all terrain. 

On Cloudventure Peak 3 

A lightweight trail runner, On’s third generation Cloudventure Peak 3, $159.99, is built for speed. It features slip resistant Missiongrip rubber and a redesigned 3mm lug pattern for enhanced traction on technical and wet terrain. A single layer, mono-mesh upper stays close to the foot, and a two-finger Speedboard made of 30% carbon and injected TPU delivers agility and stability on uneven ground.  

Altra Lone Peak 7 

The Lone Peak 7, $150, is a lightweight, streamlined update to the brand’s most popular trail style. It features the brand’s Altra Ego midsole, and it boasts a durable and secure upper. The MaxTrac outsole and multi-directional lug pattern deliver grippy traction, while the shoe’s StoneGuard offers underfoot rock protection.  

Saucony Ultra Ridge GTX 

The Ultra Ridge GTX is a new, lightweight hiking boot from Saucony, weighing in at less than a pound (each boot). The $190 hiker offers a cushioned ride, and it has a GORE-TEX waterproof mid-cut upper, plus toothy lugs and a grippy outsole. 

Adidas Terrex Free Hiker 2

Designed with long distance hiking in mind, the lightweight Free Hiker 2 ($170) from Adidas’ outdoor label features a Boost midsole, a snug, sock-like fit and a Continental rubber outsole. The upper is made of 50% recycled materials.

Jack Wolfskin Cyrox

Coming in March 2024, the Cyrox, $198, is a female-specific hiking boot developed to fit the gait, foot, and impact of female hikers. It has a leather-textile hybrid upper, and is lined with  waterproof and breathable Texapore Ecosphere Pro fabric.

Oboz Katabatic Wind

A fast trail performer for Spring ’24, the Katabatic Wind, $200, features Oboz’s Inertia of Motion (IOM) System — a carbon plate paired with a dual-density midsole that works with its rocker profile to reduce fatigue and provide more energy return. 

inov-8 Roclite G 275 V2

The $150 Roclite G 275 V2 trail shoe is designed for both hard and soft trails. The midsole and upper design offer a locked-in fit, cushioned comfort and durability. And its durable 6mm long sticky rubber outsole studs are infused with Graphene. 

La Sportiva Levante

Coming in Spring ’24, this versatile trail runner is designed by women for women. It utilizes La Sportiva’s cushioned XFlow midsole tech for energy return. A female-specific last and supportive exoskeleton deliver comfort and a precise foothold.

Rieker R-Evolution Deborah 66

This stylish outdoor standout from Rieker’s Fall ’23 R-Evolution lifestyle collection has a leather upper and “TEX” lining making it water resistant. The $185 boot has a Lamb’s wool membrane lining and a soft, removable insole. It also has a Walk Safe fiber grip sole.

Alegria Chevon

Boasting a fashion-forward outdoor vibe, the Chevon offers a feminine twist on a classic outdoor boot silhouette with small tassels and embossed detail on the leather. And the boot also offers the utility of the rugged lug outsole with slip-resistance.

Ridgemont Monty Hi 

This light hiker is at home on the trail or in town with its classic retro style. Monty, $119, comes in Hi and Lo versions and waterproof options. The upper is Ballistic Ripstop Nylon with Hydroguard Lining. Monty also has an EVA cush footbed.

Arcopedico Physis

This Fall 2023 “shootie” style is vegan, machine washable, and water-resistant, and features recycled and eco-friendly materials. A PU outsole boasts a textured bottom for additional grip. Physis, $135, is lightweight and a good choice for travel. 

Blundstone All-Terrain

Designed for light hiking and uneven ground, the All-Terrain Series is available in Thermal and regular styles. The classic Blundstone Chelsea boots feature Vibram outsoles that are grippy and self-cleaning, ideal for trail use or street wear.

Astral Brewer 2.0

With its super-sticky G Rubber outsole, Balanced Geometry midsole, and water-ready upper, the new Brewer 2.0 ($125) is a versatile, performance sneaker style. And it uses less oil during construction, conserving soil and water during production.
