Skechers Sues Shipper for Lost Cargo

A never delivered 247 cartons of footwear, being shipped from Haiphong, Vietnam to Los Angeles in Dec. 2020, is at the center of a federal lawsuit filed in federal court last week by Skechers USA. Named defendants in the case are Shipco Transports Inc. and Transpac Cargoline.
Besides non-delivery of cargo, charges levied in the case include negligence, breach of contract, breach of bailment and breach of warranty. The plaintiff, in charging the defendants with a breach of their warranty by selecting “a deficient vessel” and “deficient personnel” to move the cargo, is seeking more than $57,000 in general damages plus miscellaneous expenses, interest and costs.
