Publicly traded, 390-door chain Shoe Carnival reopened 122 stores on May 1 in locations where states and local officials relaxed or canceled stay-at-home orders, and another 62 doors on May 4. Shoe Carnival says it intends to open additional stores in the coming days and weeks, in line with state and local guidelines, and hopes to have most open by May 31.

“To ensure the health and safety of our employees and customers, we have taken extraordinary measures ahead of the store reopenings,” Cliff Sifford, vice-chairman and CEO of Shoe Carnival, said. “All of our stores have been supplied with personal protective equipment, we have intensified cleaning and sanitation procedures, and prominently displayed signage to reinforce social distancing and good hygiene.”
