This week we put three new product launches under the spotlight: a Veja x Vibram collab, vegan boots from Blundstone and a “super-charged” hiking boot from inov-8.

Veja has released a new hybrid shoe called the Dekkan in collaboration with Vibram. The $170 outdoor-inspired style, made in Brazil, is influenced by Veja’s running technology, but is made more for travel, everyday wear or light hiking. It features a comfortable, technical and resistant sole developed with Vibram. The sole incorporates a new rubber formulation co-created by the two brands. The Dekkan’s midsole is made with 70% sugar cane and the outsole features 30% Amazonian rubber and 5% rice waste. The shoe’s breathable Alveomesh upper is made of recycled polyester.

Blundstone has released its first-ever vegan boots. The two new Chelsea boots feature full vegan onMicro uppers with water-resistant microfibre and high abrasion resistance. They also have certified vegan removable Comfort Lite Footbeds and feature vegan XRD Technology in the heel for comfort. All components of the boots have been tested and certified by Eurofins | Chem-MAP, which conducts independent testing as part of their Vegan Verification program. Priced at $189.95, the styles are modeled after Blundstone’s iconic Original Chelsea boots the #2115 and #2116.

Inov-8 has unveiled the ROCFLY G 390, a hiking boot with a Graphene-enhanced foam, which it says will “supercharge feet.” The lightweight, breathable boot is designed to deliver “endless cushioning and bounce” to meet the needs of growing trends in long-distance hiking, multi-day trail walking and thru-hiking. Inov-8 first used Graphene in 2018 when launching GRAPHENE-GRIP rubber on the outsoles of its hiking, running and fitness shoes. The G-FLY Graphene foam used in the new ROCFLY G 390 – which inov-8 says delivers 25% greater energy return – first made its debut in the brand’s TRAILFLY ULTRA G 300 MAX trail running shoe earlier this year.
