PHIT America Launches Petition for Healthy Kids

PHIT America, a national nonprofit dedicated to improving the health and academic performance of children, says its new Petition for Healthy Kids campaign is being promoted by over 100 national and local influencers as it aims to get 50 million U.S. kids physically active by 2030 through school and community physical activity programs.

Almost 50 percent of U.S. schools have eliminated physical education, and many have also cut recess over the last few years, according to Jim Baugh, the founder of PHIT America.

“Today, 93 percent of American children do not meet Center For Disease Control (CDC)-recommended physical activity standards. Is it any wonder that 60 percent of kids will be obese by age 35?” Baugh said in a statement. “We have to get kids healthier immediately to prevent more preexisting medical conditions.”

PHIT America, which has already introduced 540,000 kids to regular physical activity and fitness, received a multimillion-dollar commitment from the Seattle-based Julie Love Pritt Private Foundation in Sept. 2019 to help accelerate its fundraising efforts to establish more fitness programs in U.S. schools.
