Obituary: Paul Reynolds, of Cook’s Sporting Goods

Paul Reynolds, who has worked at Cook's Sporting Goods for more than 40 years, passed away earlier this month. He had been in a rehab facility for the past several weeks while battling a brain tumor.  He died peacefully with his family around. His obituary is below:

Paul Venus Reynolds, 80, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2022, at Wilkes Health and Rehab.

Funeral services were held June 7, 2022, at Millers Creek United Methodist Church with Rev. Chris Hughes, speakers Randy Lankford and Allen Reynolds officiating. 

Reynolds was born on Jan. 14, 1942, to William Rufus and Stella Anna Johnson Reynolds. He worked many years with the YMCA as physical director in North Wilkesboro and Rock Hill, S.C., then returned to Wilkes as executive director in 1982. He then worked for Cook’s Sporting Goods as a team sports representative.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Lee Tilley Reynolds.

He is survived by his two daughters; Anna Leah Reynolds Lankford and husband, Randy, of Purlear and Mary Martha Reynolds Dyer of Purlear, one son; Allen Ross Reynolds and wife, Kelly, of Millers Creek; eight grandchildren, Adrienne Lankford Griffith and husband, Dylan, Jessie Lankford and fiancé, Tyler Stotler, Emily Dyer, Jacob Dyer, Andrew Dyer, Meagan Reynolds Wingler and husband, Shane, Brandon Reynolds and fiancé, Kelsey Nesselrode, and Cameron Reynolds; one great-grandchild; Alayna Rose Reynolds; one sister, Velda Martin and husband, Jimmy, of Jonesville and one brother, Howard Reynolds of Elkin.
