The first two footwear styles from new trail run brand NNormal launched earlier this month. The brand, a partnership between world-renowned mountain runner Kilian Jornet and Spanish footwear company Camper, has a stated focus on social responsibility and making products that are high quality, durable, long-lasting, repairable, reusable, repurposed or recyclable.

The NNormal Kjerag, $195, is a max-performance trail running shoe and the NNormal Tomir, $165, is an adventure shoe designed for “every run” and “any hike.” The Kjerag features a breathable upper that utilizes individually coated Kevlar yarns and an Eexpure midsole foam that sits in direct contact with the foot. The Tomir has a 31/23mm stack EVA midsole and a durable upper made with a blend of monofilament polyester and TPE. Both shoes feature Vibram Megagrip and a LiteBase outsole. The NNormal shoes are available in Europe and North America online and in select running and outdoor specialty stores. 

“Sharing the same values was a strong motivation to start this project,” Jornet states on the brand's website.. “We agreed that we need a new way of thinking and acting in relation to our environment and Outdoor activities. We want to be very honest on how we produce the equipment and on the role the company wants to play for the society and the environment. This means transparency and working to avoid overconsumption by building products that are durable. To have a minor impact on the environment, we need to work with various materials and explore different designs. It’s a long and difficult path but that’s what motivates me and the team to start this project.”

Products are designed in Mallorca and tested in Norway as hinted in the name of the brand (Nor-way + Mal-lorca)
