The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the cancellation of at least one of the two team sports buying group shows scheduled for June.

Nation’s Best Sports announced today that “due to the current state of events, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the NBS 2020 Summer Athletic Market scheduled to be held in Fort Worth, TX, on June 30–July 2. At this time, we felt this was the right decision based on the uncertainties surrounding our daily lives amid the COVID-19 pandemic.”

In an email notice to its members sent this morning, NBS stressed that “despite the Market being cancelled, all Market Programs will be available to the Members as they normally would be if the physical Market was taking place. We will notify you with more information regarding Program submissions at a later date.”

There has been no announcement yet from Sports, Inc. on the fate of its Summer Team Dealer Show, which is still scheduled for June 14-16 at the Music City Convention Center in Nashville, TN.

“It is our goal to produce the June show in Nashville as long as it is safe for people to travel and gather,” Sports, Inc. CEO Todd Adams tells TeamInsightExtra. “More than a few of our members and vendors have told us that they want the show to go on if at all possible and our mindset is the same.

“But,” Adams adds, “my late May/early June crystal ball is not working very well right now.”

Adams says that if the decision is made to cancel the Nashville show then Sports, Inc. will look to create a virtual way for its members and vendors to interact. “Our team dealers are staying prepared to get back after it as soon as possible,” he says. “Sports, Inc. team dealers will be prepared to perform for our suppliers and their customers when sport returns.”

The 2020 Sports, Inc. Fall Team Dealer Show is scheduled for November 22-24, in Las Vegas.
