Lululemon Prepares For Footwear Launch; Expands Portland Footwear Operations

Share:

The first footwear introduction from Lululemon will come later this year with a full line rollout expected in 2022. The company, known for its yoga wear and other apparel, is reportedly building its footwear team in Portland, OR, where it will work under the direction of Keith Jacobson.

Jacobson, a former, eight-year adidas Group executive who later served as senior director of supply chain improvement for Columbia Sportswear, is also the former senior director of operations for SHOEFabrik in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam. Lululemon hired him as director of footwear operations in Feb. 2020, a month before the COVID-19 pandemic became widespread in the U.S.

Meanwhile, Lululemon has leased an estimated 28,000 sq. ft. in Portland’s Slabtown district and began advertising for a footwear biomechanics lead, according to the Portland Business Journal. The company, which already has footwear staffers in more than eight key areas already on staff, is currently looking to hire a sock developer and a benefits manager in Oregon, the newspaper reported.
