JD Sports, the U.K.-based parent of Finish Line/JD, DTLR, and Shoe Palace generated organic sales growth of 15.4 percent in North America for the six months ended July 29. Total H1 North American sales rose by 18.1 percent to the equivalent of $1.6 billion. In its interim report, JD reported that Q1 sales were stronger than Q2, partly due to fewer new product releases in June this year. Sales growth was said to improve in July and has done so thereafter on a strong Back-To-School season.

The company ended H2 with 969 doors in North America. After opening 24 locations during the period, including 16 conversions from Finish Line to JD, there are now 168 JD banners across the region.

JD said its overall Q2 results were “in line” with expectations. Global revenues rose by 8.3 percent in British pounds to approximately $5.79 billion. Operating income increased by 20 percent to the equivalent of $484.6 million.
