A multi-year sponsorship between Dick’s Sporting Goods and the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.), which commenced with the running of the 127th Boston Marathon on Monday, makes the full-line retailer the official retail sponsor of B.A.A. events. Going forward, DICK'S Sporting Goods will also become the presenting sponsor of the Boston Marathon Fan Fest, a three-day festival that takes place in the days before the race.

Dick’s intends to open a 100,000-sq.-ft. House of Sport store in Boston in Spring 2024 at the Prudential Center, a short distance from the Boston Marathon finish line. The House of Sport Boston opening is part of the retailer’s strategy to open 20 doors of the experiential format before the end of next year, including nine locations in 2023. The retailer had a banner near the finish line of this week’s race that read, “Running Boston Changes You.”

As for this year’s Boston Marathon, Kenyans captured three of the top spots in the men’s elite field, led by race winner Evans Chebet, an Adidas athlete, who recorded the third-fastest winning time in the race’s history. Scott Fauble, a Nike athlete, was the top American men’s elite finisher, placing seventh.

On the women’s elite side, Hellen Obiri of Kenya, an On Running endorser, won the women’s race in 2:21.38. And fifth place female finisher Emma Bates, an ASICS athlete, recorded the second-fastest time for an American woman in Boston Marathon history at 2:22.10.
