Recognizing the retail power of women sports, BreakingT, the fan apparel maker based in Washington, DC, has entered into a licensed apparel agreement with the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). The deal marks the first major pro league license for the company, which is also licensed by the National Women’s Soccer League Players Association (NWSLPA), other player associations and 60-plus colleges.

BreakingT uses its social analytics platform, CrowdBreak, to identify sports trends and fan sentiment in real-time, releasing quick-turn fan apparel that are sold in-store and online in the U.S.

“We’ve been celebrating and merchandising the most exciting moments in women’s sports for years thanks to our partnerships with pro players associations,” says BreakingT president Jamie Mottram. “Now we get to do that in a bigger way with the NWSL, which is one of the fastest-growing leagues in America,”

“BreakingT is the leader in real-time sports merchandise, and they have a proven track record of supporting women’s sports,” adds NWSL managing director of business affairs Aaron Salsberg. “We’re excited to partner with them and see how their model can be applied to the NWSL to bring our fans closer to the most exciting moments throughout the NWSL season.”
