Current plans call for the Three Stripes to launch a second generation of Futurecraft.Loop, the 100 percent recycled performance running shoe concept, sometime next year after a current round of testing. The concept was first introduced in April 2019 when 200 initial pairs were distributed to athletes, musicians, artist, select members of the worldwide media and some Adidas employees.

At the time, instructions for the select group of wear testers was simple: Wear the shoes as normal, and then give them back to us.

Adidas intends to use 100 percent recycled polyester in its products by 2024. Already, the company is utilizing its Biofabric in a tennis dress for Wimbledon (which as of press time is still scheduled to begin June 29) and some of its Stella McCartney-endorsed hoodies.

“We want to make certain that we retain and remain leaders in the area of sustainability because we believe it’s a key differentiator for the Adidas brand,” Adidas AG CEO Kasper Rorsted told analysts last week.
