As we head into the new year, demand for boots remains strong. And, likewise, demands from consumers about what they expect in their footwear are equally strong. Innovation, style, comfort and sustainability are all top-of-mind. Oboz is developing footwear with more sustainable materials and is aiming for B-Corp status in 2022, says Rich Hohne, Oboz director of brand + consumer experience. At Twisted X, Lee Lemon, VP of sales, notes that waterproof footwear is becoming a bigger portion of the brand’s year-round business. And he says, “Another key trend in 2022 is comfort. We are seeing a migration of generations moving out of athletic footwear into work or light work/light duty.” At Merrell, “Sustainability, versatility, and key franchise models moving into different seasons are all things we’re focused on,” Chris Hufnagel, global brand president, Merrell, tells us.
