OUTSIDE & ALL-AROUND
Versatile, “wear anywhere” styles are driving trends in outdoor footwear.
Alegria / Junypur: Combining full waterproof protection through seam-sealed construction and an inner waterproof bootie while still boasting an aesthetic suitable for city life, the Junypur features soft black waterproof napa leathers and herringbone tweeds. The style is built on the brand’s Z-Tread outsole, with slip-resistant rubber traction. Plus, FreshWell charcoal technology helps keep feet cool and fresh. Available Fall/Winter 2026. MSRP $180.

All-day, “wear anywhere” versatility is a key trend driving outdoor footwear offerings in 2026. “The consumer we’re seeing in 2026 isn’t a hiker who occasionally wears shoes to brunch — it’s the opposite,” says Jill Butler, director of merchandising, ECCO Americas. “It’s someone who builds their day around movement but doesn’t want to change shoes to do it.”

“Town-to-trail is really about versatility as a design brief, not a marketing tagline,” continues Butler.

The traits consumers are prioritizing? A silhouette that doesn’t look ‘technical’ at first glance, genuine grip and stability underfoot (they’ll actually use it), weather-readiness without bulk, and materials that feel premium even when the spec is functional.

Alegria Designer Emily Hagen agrees that consumers are looking for footwear that “blends performance, comfort, and versatile everyday style.” The brand’s Junypur boot reflects the “growing ‘town-to-trail’ mindset in footwear,” she says, noting that it combines performance details such as waterproof protection while also having a more elevated city-lifestyle aesthetic.

For the Spring season, minimalist brand Lems Shoes put the focus on “movement, fresh perspectives, and getting outside,” says Andrew Rademacher, founder and CEO, Lems Shoes, noting that the brand focused on styles “that feel natural on the foot and effortless to wear.” He adds that the brand’s outdoor collection “emphasizes that simplicity really does feel better.”
