In The News: JD Sports x Instacart, Puma, Caleres

JD Sports is partnering with Instacart to launch same-day delivery from more than 500 JD Sports and Finish Line stores across the U.S. via the Instacart App and website. JD Sports and Finish Line already offer online ordering for in-store pickup and shipping. Ordering via the Instacart App will allow customers to have products delivered to their doorstep in as fast as an hour. Customers can select their preferred footwear and apparel styles, colors, and sizes before adding items to their cart, with access to same-day delivery for more than 16,000 products.


Puma has shared the results of its two-year-long RE:SUEDE experiment, where the brand showed that it can successfully turn an experimental version of its classic Suede sneaker into compost under certain tailor-made industrial conditions. Anne-Laure Descours, chief sourcing officer at Puma, said, “We will continue to innovate with our partners to determine the infrastructure and technologies needed to make the process viable for a commercial version of the RE:SUEDE, including a takeback scheme, in 2024.”

Transparency is also part of the RE:SUEDE experiment, as Puma will share its insights in a detailed report. The RE:SUEDE experiment is part of Puma’s “Circular Lab”, an innovation hub led by the brand’s innovation and design teams that is developing the future of the company’s circularity programs.


Caleres has hired Erica Mackoul as its new SVP of international where she will focus largely on the Sam Edelman, Allen Edmonds, Naturalizer and Vionic brands. She comes to the St. Louis company from Cole Haan where she was most recently VP of global merchandising and responsible for the product assortment in 500 stores in 92 countries, oversaw 14 product categories, and spearheaded the onboarding of 50 international partners.
