NFHS Network Passes One Million Mark

Share:

The NFHS Network, launched in 2008 to expand the reach of high school sports viewing, has now streamed more than one million events across the U.S.

NFHS Network is actually a subsidiary of PlayOn! Sports, a high school media company that helps stream sports and extracurricular activities. Every year, NFHS Network streams high school games, matches and meets from 27 different regular season and post-season sports, in addition to other high school activities. The network broadcasted its first event in 2009.

In conjunction with this milestone, NFHS Network also launched its “Founders Club,” honoring 50 high schools across the country that have made an impact on the company.

As part of the “Founders Club,” each of the 50 schools received recognition with a banner for hanging in their gym with a certification marking the honor. The schools that were honored are part of the NFHS Network School Broadcast Program that provides schools with the software to produce and broadcast professional-grade events online.

“When we started NFHS Network, we knew there was a significant demand for a platform like ours,” PlayOn! Sports CEO and founder David Rudolph says. “Streaming over one million events is a remarkable accomplishment, but our sights are now set on four million.”

Among the highlights of the NFHS Network::

  • The first broadcast was the GHSA Wrestling Playoffs.
  • Over 522,000 boys’ events were streamed.
  • Over 405,000 girls’ events were streamed.
  • The Network has streamed over 55,000 state high school championships.
  • The states with the most broadcasts were Georgia, Illinois and Michigan.
  • The most-viewed broadcast was the 2020 boys NSAA Basketball Semifinal between Skutt Catholic and Mount Michael in Lincoln, NE for a total of 20,000 views.
  • The Network broadcasts have generated over 58 million total views.

During the 2020/21 scholastic year, the Network broadcasted 320,000 games from more than 5700 U.S.-based high schools. It expects to stream more than one million events during the 2022 school year.
