2021 Buzzy Consumer Trends Outlined

“Craving Convenience,” “Outdoor Oasis” and “Playing with Time” are among the Top 10 Global Consumer Trends 2021, according to global market research firm Euromonitor International.

Craving Convenience is described as the desire for a return to the on-the-go simplicities of pre-pandemic life. Seamless shopping experiences are one example of this convenience. Outdoor Oasis touches on consumers’ new found desire to be outside - reconnecting with nature and turning to open-air venues for leisure and to safely socialize. Playing with Time touches on the fact that consumers have gained newfound flexibility and are scheduling activities in a non-conventional order to suit individual time demands. As a result, a 24-hour service culture may emerge.

Among the other seven consumer trends detailed by Euromonitor are: Phygital Reality (physical and virtual worlds merging), Shaken and Stirred (reassessing mental health and life priorities) and Thoughtful Thrifters - described as those who “budget cautiously and purchase value-added and affordable products and services.”

“2021 will be a pivotal year,” Alison Angus, head of lifestyles for Euromonitor International said in a statement. “Tailoring strategies to these emerging consumer trends will empower businesses to endure the unexpected and overcome adversities.”
