On top of its other donations, Nike has committed to donating more than 140,000 pieces of footwear, apparel and gear to healthcare workers in the U.S. and Europe. Working with nonprofit Good360 stateside and with local organizations in Europe, the Beaverton, OR-based athletic brand will be distributing 30,000 pairs of its designed-for-health-care Nike Air Zoom Pulse shoe to hospitals in Chicago, Los Angeles, Memphis and New York City and others within the Veteran’s Health Administration system. In Europe, 2,500 pairs will be donated to hospitals in Barcelona, Berlin, London, Milan, Paris and in Belgium.

Rockport Group’s “Responders in Motion” program will donate 5,000 pairs of footwear to first responders in its home state through the Massachusetts Ambulance Association. Additionally, the Newton, MA-based company is donating 5 percent of all sales on Rockport.com to the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians Foundation.

Rockford, MI-based Chaco has already created and donated almost 3,000 masks as part of its pivot to PPE, but thanks to a partnership with fellow Michigan manufacturer Bissell, the brand is upgrading its product with repurposed vacuum cleaning bags as filters. Each mask will ship with multiple filters made from Bissell vacuum bags that fit into a dedicated slot in the masks. Chaco has shared sourcing, patterns and best practices with other brands in and outside the outdoor industry.
