When it comes to run safety, the survey responses reveal dierences in the way men and women approach the topic. Overall, 42% of runners told us they have visited a store looking for run safety products. Notably, 47% of women (compared to 32% of men) said they have considered purchasing self-defense products for a run for potential self defense against people and animals. And 66% of women (compared to 45% of men) said they would appreciate a store’s sales associate recommending run safety products to them while shopping.When it comes to the visibility aspect of run safety, our survey found that reflective apparel (61%), reflective accessories or lights (60%) and reflective footwear (42%) are the most popular items that runners choose to wear for visibility in low light or dusky situations.
