Weekly Overview

Dow retained its “flatness” for a fourth consecutive week, rising 131.66 points or 0.39 percent for the period. The Segment did slightly better, rising 1.2 percent for the period with 15 stocks rising and five declining. Crocs and Genesco led the gainers on a percentage basis. Rocky Brands posted a 57 percent increase in Q1 revenues,  including a 69 percent improvement in wholesale. Under Armour is now forecasting “high teens” sales growth for FY21, but some analysts are unconvinced about the brand’s turnaround. The brand’s North American revenues jumped 32 percent and online sales were 69 percent higher in Q1. Adidas has launched Formotion, a new collection of women’s activewear created by an all-women design team. Puma is teaming with Los Angeles store Marathon on a special T-shirt and suede sneaker on May 7 to honor the late Nipsey Hussle. Caleres, in 2025, wants to reclaim, recycle or refurbish 90,000 pairs of footwear annually and see 25 percent of Famous Footwear shoes made with 25-percent environmentally friendly materials. Wolverine Chairman and CEO Blake Krueger is a “Father of the Year” honoree on June 17 along with country music star Brad Paisley and Pfizer Chairman and CEO Albert Bourla. — Bob McGee
